Standards
Editorial policy
Bridal Explorer exists to give engaged couples and wedding guests clear, trustworthy answers — without the fluff. Here is how we make that happen.
Who writes our content
Every guide is written or reviewed by a member of our editorial team: certified wedding planners, former bridal stylists, travel writers and ordained officiants. You can meet the team.
How we source information
- State legal information (marriage licenses, waiting periods) is sourced from official county clerk and state health-department websites and re-verified at least twice per year.
- Cost estimates come from public industry reports (The Knot Real Weddings Study, WeddingWire, Zola) blended with vendor quotes our editors collect directly.
- Etiquette guidance reflects mainstream contemporary standards, with notes when traditions vary by culture or region.
Fact-checking & updates
Cornerstone guides are reviewed on a 6-month cadence. Time-sensitive pages (marriage license fees, honeymoon costs) are reviewed every 90 days. The "Updated" date at the top of every article reflects the most recent substantive review — not just a typo fix.
Corrections
Spotted something wrong or out of date? Send us a correction. We respond to every correction request and update the article (with a note) when warranted.
Independence & affiliate links
Bridal Explorer is reader-supported. Some links in our guides are affiliate links — when you book or buy through them, we may earn a small commission at no extra cost to you. Our editorial picks are never influenced by commission rates; see our affiliate disclosure for the full policy.
AI use
We use AI tools to assist with research, outlines and grammar, but every published article is reviewed and edited by a named human editor. No article is published with AI-generated text that has not been fact-checked by a person.
