Read the contract first

Catering, venue and transport contracts frequently include a service charge of 18–24%. That is not always a gratuity — sometimes it covers overheads and none of it reaches the staff. Ask the venue directly: "Does the service charge go to the staff as gratuity?" If yes, no further tipping is required beyond a discretionary amount for the banquet manager.

Who you don't have to tip

Business owners — a glowing review and referrals matter more. A gift is still a nice gesture.
Any vendor whose contract already includes gratuity.
Vendors who performed poorly. Tips are for good service.

Pay setup vendors (florist, cake, delivery) as they finish, and performance vendors at the end of the night.
